The Story of Kasai Tenma

The Story of Kasai Tenma

A four year old boy lay asleep in his bed. He had no one. No one but his sister, Heiress. She cared for him. She fed him, bathed him, anything a parent would do, but the fact was, she was not a parent. She was a sister who was abandoned along with her Brother to fend for themselves.

****************************Heiress POV*********************************

She looked down at the young boy. He was so peaceful, yet he had been through so much for his young age. She started to drift off to sleep, thinking about her young brother.

BAM! Was the sound that awoke her. The apartment door had been knocked down. She grabbed her still sleeping brother, and his him inside a basket. She was happy when she died, for the last thing she saw was her sleeping baby brother.

***************************Kasai POV***********************************

Crunch crunch, the sound of footsteps on gravel resounded on the torn apart room where Kasai Tenma, and his sister slept. Four year old Kasai Tenma opened his eyes. Dark. A blanket over his head maybe? Something trickled down his back. It was warm. It felt like... Blood. The blanket was lifted off of him by a hand. He looked up. The hand belonged to his Uncle. Uncle Korokaku. He gently lifted Kasai up. His rough looking face curved to a smile. Kasai felt safe with him, and closed his eyes to fall asleep.

***************************Korokaku POV********************************

Korokaku lept from rooftop to rooftop, a bundle in his arms. It was wrapped up in a handmade quilt. He didn't know why he was doing this, but this boy needed a place to stay, where he would be hidden, protected, and most importantly, taught.

He was taking Kasai to an old friend. His name was Maito, Gai.

******************Kasai POV*******************************************

Kasai Tenma sat in the old busted up apartment. It looked like a shack to him. It was his 14th birthday. In his point of view, he deserved better. He didn't feel like celebrating his birthday with Gai. Actually, he felt like being with his sister. That horrible night ran through his mind every second of his life. That is what gave him the motivation to become a ninja. He didn't like have Gai as a sensei, but he had to. There was no one else, except for one. Hatake, Kakashi. But he was already training someone. Kihaku, Sumika. She was a great ninja. Kasai would enjoy being on a team with her. He was one of the top ranking ninja in the academy and so was she. But Gai would never let him be on a team with Kakashi as a sensei. But all Kasai could do was try. He grabbed his Navy Blue vest, and slipped on his ninja sandals.

Gai, I'm going for a walk!" he yelled.

"Be sure to come back!" Gai replied, and Kasai shut the door.

/If I had a choice,/ Kasai thought, /I would never come back./ He lept from rooftop to rooftop, searching for either Kakashi or Sumika. If he found Kakashi, he would ask for permission to join his team. If he found Sumika, he'd ask to spar. He'd been itching for a fight. He stopped on top of Kakashi's apartment. He was about to leap down and knock on the door, when something hit him. He started to turn, and all went black.

***************Kasai POV*************

Kasai awoke. He couldn't remember what had happened, or where he was. He looked around. An apartment, no one there, at least no one he could see. He was exhausted. Every muscle in his body ached. It felt as if someone had used a body bind jutsu on him. A door somewhere creaked, and a man with crazy silver hair walked in. He had a mask over one of his eyes, and Kasai knew exactly who it was. Hatake, Kakashi.

"W-where a-a-am I?" Kasai asked, but he knew already.

You're in my apartment. I found you knocked out in front of this place with a shuriken in your back. Kasai winced. Now he remembered. There were some sound ninja. He recognized one of them. He killed his sister. They attacked Kasai. One of them got him in the back with a shuriken, the other got him in the arm with a kunai. He managed to yank the kunai out before he passed out.

"What were you doing out there anyway?" Kakashi asked.

"Looking for you." Kasai Replied

Kakashi raised an eyebrow. 'And what business do you have with me?" he asked.

"I've come to ask permission to be on your team. My current sensei is Maito, Gai, and its hell. Especially when Bushy Brow comes over."

"I feel very sorry for you." Said a voice. Kasai couldn't see who it was, but he recognized it immediately. Kasai blushed. It was Sumika. He rolled over onto his stomach so he could see her.

"Hello there Sumika.' Kakashi said. "How did the fight with Lee go after I left?"

"We postponed the match. We both used too much chakra, and stamina."

"Ah, I see.' Kakashi said, then looked back at Kasai.

"Mr. Tenma here would like to join our team. I will take him back to Gai's, and come get him tomorrow. We will have decided by then, right Sumika?"

Sumika nodded, but Kasai didn't get to see it for he had passed out once again.

**************Kakashi POV*******************

Kakashi lept from rooftop to rooftop. He was going over what Kasai had said in his head. Kasai couldn't stand Gai. He couldn't take him back there, but he had to. Kasai would be considered kidnapped if he didn't come back.

He was on top of Gai's apartment now. Gai wasn't there. Kakashi slipped in through an open window, and set Kasai in the bed. Whatever had happened to the boy, really beat him up. Kakashi wondered what had happened. Kakashi started to leave, but hesitated. He couldn't leave Kasai here alone. He needed protection. Kakashi lept back to his apartment. He opened the door, and stepped in. Sumika was sitting on the couch. Kakashi sat down next to her.

"Is he alright?" Sumika asked.

"Yeah. He's back at Gai's apartment. But, he could use some protection, Gai isn't at his apartment. You should go down there." Kakashi replied.

"Okay, I know where Gai lives. I've gone over there to find Lee a couple times." Sumika smiled and left.

*********************Sumika POV*********************

Sumika arrived at Gai's apartment. She slipped in through the window Kakashi had specified. Kasai was still asleep on the bed. She sat down at the end of the bed.

"What happened to you?..." she whispered to herself as she looked over the cuts he had. There was a wound on his back, and one on his arm. The one on his back was still slightly bleeding, and the one on his arm had dried blood around it. Kasai stirred slightly, and opened his eyes a little.

"Su- Sumika?" he asked.

"Yeah, it's me." She said.

"Why are you here?"

"Kakashi told me to look after you since Gai is gone." She said.

"Oh. Ok." Kasai closed his eyes.

"Hey, Kasai, what happened to you?" Sumika asked she wanted to know.

"I was attacked. Some sound ninja. The same ones that killed my sister. They came back for me. I couldn't fight all three of them off. One got me in the back with a shurikn. That one was the one I saw the night my sister died. Another got me in the arm with a kunai." Kasai closed his eyes, and quickly fell asleep. He was to tired to go on.

"You rest Kasai." Sumika said. She had to tell Kakashi what had happened, but she couldn't leave Kasai. She heard a door open, and the sound of boots. She thought it was Gai, so she went to meet him and tell him what happened. That's what she would have done, if it were Gai she saw.

******************* Sumika POV*******************************

Sumika stood in the doorway to the bedroom where Kasai was passed out. She thought it was Gai who walked into the apartment. It was a sound ninja. Only one. He must have come to finish off Kasai. Sumika would not let that happen. She removed her black trench coat, and reached down towards her kunai pouch. The sound ninja moved swiftly. Sumika was swifter. She grabbed her kunai, and threw two at the ninja. The other one she kept with her. One of the kunai missed the sound ninja, but the other got him directly between his shoulder blades on his back. He winced, but kept going. He dashed towards Sumika. He drew a kunai. He closed in on her, and shoved the kunai into the air, pointed at Sumika. Sumika was lucky she kept that kunai with her. She blocked the ninja’s kunai. He was fast. She’d actually have to use a jutsu on this guy. She made the signs of the ram, tiger, boar, dog and monkey. “Wind Blade jutsu!” She yelled. She shot her right arm out, and in was pointed at the sound ninja. Someone grabbed her arm from behind her, and wrenched it down. The jutsu stopped. She turned her head around, only to see another sound ninja. He had her trapped. She tried to wiggle out of his grasp, but he had her tight. The only think she could do was wake Kasai.

“Kasai! Wake up! The sound ninja are here!” She yelled.

************Kasai POV*****************************************

Kasai stirred in the bed, and his eyes shot open. Sound ninja. He filled with rage and anger. He stood, ignoring the pain in his back, and reached for a kunai. He threw one at the ninja holding Sumika. It hit him in middle of his back, and stuck there. With that, Kasai lunged at the ninja, and pushed the kunai deeper into his body. The ninja fell to the ground, and Sumika was free. She continued her jutsu. Soon after she pointed her arm at the ninja, a white stream of chakra shot at him. It hit him, and he instantly fell to the ground.

**************Sumika POV*************************

Sumika was panting. She looked at Kasai. He was to.

“Come on Kasai let’s get back to my apartment. Gai can clean this up when he gets back.” Sumika said, helping Kasai get onto the rooftop. Together they lept from rooftop to rooftop, and they soon arrived at Kakashi’s apartment. Sumika opened the door. Kakashi was gone. He was on a mission, and wouldn’t be back for a few days.

“You can stay in Kakashi’s room while he’s gone. He won’t mind.” Sumika told Kasai.

“Okay.” Kasai replied. He went into Kakashi’s room, and quickly fell asleep

**********************Kasai POV**********************************

Kasai woke abruptly. A strange sound… A door… maybe being knocked down. He looked around. He recognized this place. The apartment that he lived in with his sister. He looked around. He saw his sister; her beautiful brown hair flowed as she ran around the corner. She ran over to the bed, and picked up a small bundle. She placed the bundle in a small basket, and covered it with a blanket. She hid it in a secret compartment, under the floorboards. Kasai didn’t know that was there. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a blur. He knew what they were as soon as he saw them. They were kunai. Kasai saw the face of one of the sound ninja he’d killed in Gai’s apartment. The kunai flew towards his sister. Kasai wanted to do something, but he was frozen with fear. Suddenly his instincts kicked in. He grabbed a shuriken from his shuriken pouch, and threw one at the kunai. It hit the first kunai, and knocked it off course. The kunai hit the second kunai, and they fell to the ground. A sudden pain in his back made Kasai fall to the ground, and then light poured in. He looked around. He was no longer in his sister’s apartment, but in Kakashi’s. He heard something frying in the kitchen. He climbed out of bed, ignoring the pain in his back and arm. He slowly made his way to the kitchen. He smelled something good. He turned around a corner, and saw Sumika.

“What are you making?” he asked, sitting at the round table. As he leaned back in the chair, his back started to hurt even more. He winced at the pain.

“Ramen.” Sumika replied, turning to Kasai. “You should have your wounds checked out. They might get infected.” She walked over to the table, setting a bowl of Ramen in front of Kasai. Kasai hadn’t noticed how hungry he was.

“Thanks.” He said, slurping up some Ramen. He ignored Sumika’s comment about his wounds.

*************************Sumika POV**************************

Sumika watched Kasai slurp down his ramen. He looked like Naruto. The doorbell rang. Sumika stood, walking out of the kitchen. She walked through the living room, and too the front door. The doorbell rang again.

“I’m coming.” Sumika said, through the door. She opened the door, and examined the person outside. Uchiha Sasuke. Sumika heard a thud in the kitchen, as Kasai came around the corner.

“Who’s at the door?” He asked. Sumika turned toward him.

“It’s Sasuke.” She replied, turning back to Sasuke. “Why are you here?” she asked.

“I came to see my cousin.” He said, walking in.

“There’s no one here but me and Sumika. So, I guess your cousin’s not here.” Kasai said, moving over to the couch.

“You Baka, Sumika is my cousin.” Sasuke said, leaning against the wall.

Kasai stood, raising his fist at Sasuke. “Hey don’t call me a Baka!” Sasuke stood, standing inches from Kasai.

“Or what?” he asked, smirking. Sumika stepped between the two.

“Break it up you two. Kasai, go lay down, you’re going to hurt your back, and your arm isn’t looking to good either.” She said, shooing Kasai off into Kakashi’s bedroom. She turned her attention back to Sasuke. “What did you want to see me about?” She asked, gesturing for him to sit down. She sat down on the couch looking at him.

“It’s about your mother.” Sasuke said, leaning against the wall again. “She’s come to Konoha, and she’s looking for you.” Sasuke looked at Sumika, then added something else. “Someone else is back to.”

“Who?” Sumika asked.

“Uchiha, Itachi. He’s back, and he’s been looking for you and me. I’ve already seen him once. He was after Naruto.”

Sumika’s eyes widened. “Itachi… is back. What did he do to Naruto? Is Naruto okay?”
